Once a year, it is important to get your pet a full physical examination. Our Team will check the health of your pet from head to tail. Based on the physical exam findings our team will be able to help you keep your pet at a healthy weight, provide nutritional advise, and make recommendations for preventative healthcare measures such as dental cleanings or vaccinations. Studies have shown that keeping pets at a healthy weight will add years to their lives and minimize problems with joints and reduce risk factors for diseases such as diabetes.
Bring in any medical history you have for your pet when you come to our veterinary hospital. It can be useful to keep a journal of your pet’s health throughout his or her life, including behavioural shifts. If you have something like this, share it with our team. If not, let us know everything that you think will be important. Our team can work with whatever information you have. We can help facilitate the transfer of your pet’s medical records from previous hospitals so we will have a complete medical history.
In some circumstances, the doctor may refer you to a specialist who has advanced expertise in areas such as internal medicine, neurology, cardiology, radiology or surgery. At Scottsdale Veterinary Hospital we are fortunate to have the in hospital services of Dr.Mark Smith, a board certified surgeon and Dr. Laurie Head a board certified radiologist. This allows our patients access to these specialists for complex surgical/orthopedic procedures and ultrasound diagnostics to be performed right here in our hospital.
